Step into a seedy world populated by vagabond clowns, booze chugging bears, Victorian drunkards and other hedonistic folk when Purveyors of Firewater & Opiates opens on June 16th at LIFT.
Purveyors will feature new work and oddities from Chicago’s Matthew Ryan Sharp and Detroit’s own Kill Taupe. Hope to see you there!

Illustrator, and whiskey aficionado, Matthew Ryan Sharp is hard at work in the studio brewing up a new batch of gypsy-carnie-vaudeville-drifter type folks for our two-man exhibit Purveyors of Firewater and Opiates.
Hedonistic bears on shore leave, moonshine chugging clowns and more can be found when Purveyors opens June 16th at LIFT in Royal Oak.
This month is crazy busy, so please excuse me while I become a recluse for the next four weeks. I’ll be coming out of the cave studio on the 16th of June for the opening of Purveyors of Firewater & Opiates with Matthew Ryan Sharp at LIFT, and again on the 25th for the opening of Pushin’ Paint at Rivers Edge in Wyandotte. Come say hi, I’ll be giddy for human interaction.
There is a dark storm on the horizon…

Want to see something pretty darn rad open in the city of Detroit? Since your answer is obviously HELL YEAH, take a gander at the 10 semi-finalists for Hatch Detroit’s $50,000 grant to open a new business within the city.
LIFT’s goal is to create a vibrant 800 - 1200 sq ft. space in midtown Detroit that contains a cafe, lounge area and retail space called Bubble Love.
Bubble Love would feature a range of bubble teas, Asian snacks, sodas, juice drinks and smoothies. Guests would be able to kick back and relax, work, or study in the lounge area with access to free Wi-Fi.
The retail area would carry the latest designer toys from Kidrobot, ThreeA, Tokidoki and more in addition to apparel from Detroit Manufacturing, art books & magazines, unique handmade items and limited edition prints.
Bubble Love would also host rotating exhibits focusing on pop surreal and lowbrow artists.
You can check out the concept blog here and cast your vote for Bubble Love once a day by visiting here. Thanks for your support!
