If you like awesome things then you’ll undoubtedly be a fan of Simon Boses’ work.

Armed with a MFA from the Maryland Institute College for Art, and a lump of clay, he began creating his cartoonish sculptures in 1997 and hasn’t slowed down since. He’s shown all over the country and with each passing month his army of fantastical creatures grows larger. Check out more stunning pieces via his website, or add one to your collection by visiting his online shop.

As the horde of flesh craving zombies shuffled through the yard of the old farmhouse Patrick took great care to cross the creaky wood floor as quietly as he could. He paused, his shotgun still a few feet away, as he heard a chorus of creaks and squeaks rise up behind him.

He dared not turn around, for he knew the horrible truth…. there was a zombie at his back!

Lace & Poison: The Opening of Beautiful Monstrosities

Beautiful Monstrosities opened Saturday night at 323 East in Royal Oak and man, was it impressive. Detroit artists Audrey Pongracz and April Segedi packed the gallery with Victorian themed work that was simultaneously ethereal and grotesque.

Their work balanced each other nicely and everywhere you turned there was a feast for the eyes. Audrey’s paintings seemed to glow under the galleries lights and there was so much beautiful and intricate detail work to take in on April’s pieces.

This show is one not to be missed! I think the maggot baby is still giving me nightmares. You can catch Beautiful Monstrosities at 323 East now through August 10th.

Her collection of new sculptures were a veritable smorgasbord of alien delights with wide eyed herb encrusted creatures, forlorn ice cream plops and cephalopods cradled with fruit.

The show will be up through June 23rd so make sure to swing by and check it out.
