More color. Less taupe. Awesome.

“I keep seeing these people, all recognizing each other. Something is passing between them all, some secret. It’s a conspiracy, I know it.”
SCIENCE FICTION WEEK: Day 3

N.C. Winters, unabashedly one of my favorite slingers of paint, is opening his solo show Abandoned Menagerie tomorrow night at Gallery 1988.
Turtles of the teenage-mutant variety, Gremlins and Mario will collide at the opening as Winters’ new work explores iconic characters in pop culture and imagery that influanced him as a child. Judging from the awesome teaser pics he’s posted this is one opening that you would be a complete and utter fool to miss!

Have you heard of Oktotally, aka Andy Helms? His illustrations never fail to brighten my day. He’s like a modern day, hipster version of Ed Emberly and I love it! He sums up what he does perfectly on his blog when he says he creates, “Silly artwork that is only serious about not being serious.”
If you like awesome things then you’ll undoubtedly be a fan of Simon Boses’ work.
Armed with a MFA from the Maryland Institute College for Art, and a lump of clay, he began creating his cartoonish sculptures in 1997 and hasn’t slowed down since. He’s shown all over the country and with each passing month his army of fantastical creatures grows larger. Check out more stunning pieces via his website, or add one to your collection by visiting his online shop.
